Support Worker Job Opportunity at Dimensions UK!

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £12.31 per hour
Hours: Part-time, 14 hours per week

About Us:

At Dimensions UK, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling and independent life. We are dedicated to providing exceptional support to people with learning disabilities and autism, helping them to achieve their personal goals and live life to the fullest. Our values-driven approach ensures that we put the people we support at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values:

  • Ambition: We seek to help people reach their potential.
  • Respect: We recognise that every person’s unique contribution is valuable.
  • Integrity: We ensure that what we do is grounded in what we believe.
  • Courage: We are guided by the courage of our convictions to make a difference.
  • Partnership: We work with others to achieve more for people.

The Role:

We’re looking for a female Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a woman in her 50s who lives in her own home. She has autism, a learning disability, and dysphagia, and communicates using a visual schedule rather than words. You’ll support her with personal care (including intimate care), medication, and meal preparation in line with SALT guidelines.

She enjoys swimming (you’ll need to get into the water), gardening, cooking, sensory and art sessions, and trips out, locally, and further afield by train. She has a bus pass and her own car, which has space for a named driver (though driving isn’t essential). She can be anxious with new people, so a calm, consistent approach is key.

You’ll work alternate weekends with a shift pattern of either long day - sleep in or late – sleep in and an early (7:30-2:30pm). Lone working is involved.

About You:

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals who share our values and are committed to making a difference in the lives of the people we support. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with the resilience to manage challenging situations.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new approaches and techniques.

What We Offer:

  • Free DBS Check
  • Advance Pay: Access your earned pay before payday.
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Blue Light Card
  • Generous Leave Package
  • £500 bonus when you refer a friend who joins us.
  • Paid Training and Financial incentives for completing awards and diplomas.
  • Care Certificate: Full support and payment for this essential qualification in health and social care.
  • Colleague Benefits Scheme: Discounts and cashback on shopping and outings.

Additional Information

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews will continue until the role is filled.
  • Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. In this context, "gender" refers to the sex legally assigned to an individual.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this position, which we will cover.
  • We welcome applications from all individuals eligible to work in the UK and actively encourage diversity.
  • As a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for disabled applicants meeting the minimum criteria.
