We are looking for an experienced, proactive, confident, engaging and caring person to join a close-knit support team in Brackla.  You will be supporting ‘Tom’, a gentleman in his 60’s with a learning disability, autism and some mobility needs, to live his best life - the life that he chooses to live.

Tom really enjoys sensory activities and going to watch Cardiff City Football play. He tends to like his own space when he is at home, and asks that you respect his need for tranquillity within his home. That said, he loves you to share banter with him and if you regularly sneeze then you will have him chuckling away!!! Tom very much enjoys going out in his car, so it is essential that you are a driver.  He will enjoy you supporting him to go bowling, peddle power and to sit with him and people watch – if you can people watch in a train station then you will also indulge his passion for trains!

Tom needs a staff team who understand the need for his support plan to be followed closely – you will need to be trained in positive behaviour support, to minimise behaviours of distress that Tom can experience.

Shift Patterns – Tom asks that you are able to support him through a 24-hour shift pattern, which is 3pm-3pm. You would sleep in his house, to be on hand in case of emergency.  During the day, a second member of Tom’s support team will work alongside you, usually 8am-7pm; but on Tuesdays and Fridays, when Tom attends day services, he only needs you to be there for him before 9am and after 3pm.

Every day will be different, and rewarding, as you encourage and empower Tom to be actively engaged in every aspect of his daily live – this will include accompanying to favoured activities, supporting with daily living skills, administering medication and supporting with personal care and mobility assistance, if needed.

At Dimensions, we believe it is who you are as a person – and the difference you can bring to lives of the people you will be supporting – that is more important than experience.
