We’re looking for a confident, compassionate, and experienced support worker to join our team supporting a young gentleman in his late 20s. He lives in his own bungalow and requires 2:1 support during the day and 1:1 at night. This is a role for someone who thrives in challenging situations and knows how to bring out the best in people.
He’s clever, witty, and knows exactly what he wants but he can also push boundaries and display behaviours of distress. That’s why we need someone who’s not just experienced, but emotionally intelligent and assertive while still having a laugh.
This gentleman responds best to people who don’t take themselves too seriously. He loves banter, cheeky humour, and someone who can joke with him while still guiding him back when things escalate. You’ll need to be patient and have excellent communication skills.
He enjoys Xbox, swimming, going to the gym, football (Chelsea fan!), beach trips, long drives, and attending a Monday club. He’s outgoing but needs someone who can help bring that side out more. You’ll also support him with hygiene, cooking, and medication, he’s independent but needs prompting and guidance to stay on track.
Shifts are days only: 8am–9pm, 8am–3pm, or 3pm–9pm, with every other weekend required.
We’re looking for someone self-motivated, passionate about support work, and ready to improve someone’s life. If you’re faced with a situation like a shopping trip where he changes his mind and begins displaying behaviours, we want someone who can stay calm, offer alternatives, talk through nutrition using tools like the traffic light system, and challenge him respectfully in the moment.
