Are you looking for a career where you can make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of others but you’re not able to commit to a permanent role? Perhaps you’re considering a permanent role in the future but right now you need the flexibility to work around other commitments?

Joining Dimensions as a Relief Support Worker allows you to do just that!

Whilst you’re under no obligation to accept shifts, we do ask that you’re committed to supporting our permanent teams by working shifts where possible.

Relief Support Workers are crucial members of the team that ensure consistent care across all services during busy periods and when permanent staff are unwell or on leave, and they really do make the world of difference – seeing a friendly and familiar face is so important to the people we support when permanent team members aren’t available.

As part of our team in South Tyneside you'll be:

  • Supporting 7 people (two ladies and five gentlemen) aged in their 20s to 50s across 5 houses in the post code areas of NE33 and NE34
  • The people we support have autism, learning disabilities, down syndrome and physical disabilities
  • They are mostly independent with their personal care
  • Everyone requires some degree of support with meal preparation, medication administration, grocery shopping and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry
  • They are fun and active individuals who enjoy football, amateur boxing, pub lunches, swimming, shopping, playing pool and one gentleman loves his caravan holidays
  • They have their own cars to support their independence so it's essential that you have a full UK driving licence and are comfortable driving other people's cars. You will also need to be over the age of 25 for car insurance purposes.

Shifts

  • Day shifts are 8am - 8pm
  • Waking night shifts are 8pm - 8am

Pay

*The base pay rate for a relief worker in South Tyneside is £9.50 per hour but you will accrue annual leave as you work, so it works out to be £10.64 per hour.
