Positive Interventions Lead

The role of the Positive Interventions Lead is to provide, maintain and develop training in positive interventions to all trainers throughout the Dimensions Group and respond to referrals requiring specific interventions where appropriate.

The postholder will ensure that training requirements for the Dimensions Group are fulfilled by liaison with Operational and Learning & Development teams.  They will provide expertise and advice in setting up and design and delivery of training in Positive Interventions by working alongside Regional Behaviour Support Managers, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Clinical Practitioners and Practice Development Coaches to develop outcomes, skills and knowledge within the support teams.The post-holder will also ensure that the training of regional teams remains focused on enhancing quality of life, promoting personal skill development for the people we support and reducing/eliminating the use of restrictive practices.

About the role 

Your main duties will include: 

• Act as the organisational lead and subject matter specialist in relation to the Dimensions Positive Interventions programme, as the key point of contact for helping the Group to learn from events.
• In liaison with the Clinical team and Operational colleagues, provide advice to colleagues on how to plan for possible situations that have the potential to result in an episode of behaviours of distress.
• Provide advice as requested on suitable moves to support people we support during a time of crisis.
• Review the use of and suggest improvements to the recording of the use of physical interventions

About you

The successful applicant will have: 

• Evidence of ongoing training with respect to Positive Behaviour Support, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum conditions.
• Significant experience in directly supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism who have complex needs.
• Demonstrate a high level of observational skills and evaluation of training outcomes.
• Significant knowledge of assessment tools and positive support processes including how to construct and implement a behaviour support plan
