Support Workers
£9.72 per hour
Part-time, 28 hours per week
Kenton, Newcastle
Level 1 in British Sign Language required, or willingness to obtain
This is a complex service and is better suited to experienced Support Workers
We will soon be supporting a young man in his early 20s in the Kenton area of Newcastle. He has autism and is deaf, so he needs his support team to have a minimum Level 1 in British Sign Language or be willing to obtain this with our support. Further study of British Sign Language may be required in the future to meet his needs.
Your role is to support this young man to achieve his goals, which include engaging in the activities he enjoys. He loves going shopping, visiting B&Q and enjoys spending time in cafés.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference as you support him to live the life he chooses. On a day-to-day basis you will be providing support with meal preparation, medication administration, grocery shopping and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry.
We’re looking for experienced, positive, and patient Support Workers to join his team on a part-time basis, working 28 hours per week.
Shifts are day shifts and waking nights. He is supported by one person during the day and has access to an additional person during the night if required. The day shift is between 8am – 10pm and the waking night shift is 10pm – 8am. We’re looking for people who can work flexibly on the rota that includes weekdays, weekends and a share of bank holidays. At Dimensions, we value a healthy work / life balance and as such, you will receive your rota 4 weeks in advance.
You will receive full training and support and you will have access to opportunities that could further develop your career. Due to the complex nature of this service, it’s a requirement to have, or be willing to obtain (with our financial support) an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
There is parking for staff cars if required and good public transport links.
