About the role
Dimensions is looking for caring Support Workers in Weymouth to support two sisters in their 40s living in their own home. Both have great personalities and enjoy various interests and activities such as trips to the zoo (they LOVE animals), having dogs visit them at home , going to the cinema and anything Disney. Mum, dad and their sister are regular visitors so helping maintain those relationships is key.
"Joanne" is very out-going and loves going to the day centre and being out and about, seeing friends for coffee or going for a walk on the sea front. Joanne is quite independent and walks unaided, but may need an arm to hold on to occasionally. Joanne only needs prompting with personal care, and communicates verbally, you may just need to ask a few prompting questions.
"Mary" is social but in a different way, she loves going sailing and swimming, so you will need to be comfortable supporting her in the pool, and on a Friday she does activities out in the community which can range from getting her nails done to going to the sea life centre. Encouraging her to try new varied activities would be great. Mary does need full spuuort with personal care, and uses a wheelchair when out of the house. Mary will communicate verbally, however it is limited, but she is extremely patient and you can ask her to repeat herself.
Both ladies have epilepsy, and Mary has cerebral palsy (full training is provided).
Shift patterns will vary weekly and normally work on a 2 week rolling rota. Usual hours are 8am-3pm/3pm-10pm followed by a sleep in then a 7am-10am/3pm-9.30pm. Long days 8am-8pm can be considered and the role will involve working alternate weekends.
"Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010"
