Barnsley

This is a complex service and is better suited to experienced Support Workers

  • Do you have ambition and strive to help others achieve their full potential?
  • Do you have the courage to work through challenges and make a difference?
  • Do you act with integrity and can be relied upon to do the right thing?
  • Do you work in partnership with others to achieve more for the people you support?
  • Do you respect others and recognise that every person's unique contribution is valuable?

Dimensions are one of the country’s largest not-for-profit organisations and we are driven by our values. People with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do.

We're currently supporting 4 people over the age of 45 who have complex needs in the S74 area of Barnsley. We’re looking for friendly, positive, and empathetic Support Workers to join their fabulous support team!

The people we support have profound and multiple learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and epilepsy. They require support with their personal care, PEG feeding, medication, grocery shopping, finances and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry. They are wheelchair users and have access to a hoist in their home which you will receive training on how to use.

They like shopping, going out for meals, going for walks, attending disco evenings, crafting, colouring and sensory activities so they’re looking for someone who likes to get involved and have fun whilst supporting them. They also enjoy regular catch ups with their families.

Shifts are typically 7am – 2:30pm, 2:30pm – 10pm with a sleep over, 2:30pm – 9pm, 8am – 4pm and waking nights from 10pm – 7am with at least 2-3 staff members on shift at a time. We're looking for people who can work flexibly on the rota, working a combination of the shifts across the week and at weekends. At Dimensions, we value a healthy work / life balance so you will receive your rota 4 weeks in advance.

This is a complex service and we ask that staff either have their NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care already, or with our support, are willing to work towards this.

There is driveway parking for staff cars and good public transport links with a bus stop at the end of the road.

Rewards

Dimensions are also proud to be one of very few social care organisations that have been recognised by the Great Places to Work programme in 2019, 2020 & 2021. As well as a comprehensive induction, full training and continued support from management, our colleagues have access to:

  • Paid training
  • A comprehensive well-being strategy and staff listening network
  • Discounts and cash back on shopping worth £500 a year
  • Childcare vouchers
  • £200 bonus for recommending a friend to us if they go on to be successfully employed
  • Discounts on meals, health clubs, and car, home and travel insurance
