Full UK driving licence essential - own car NOT required

Are you committed to supporting others to live the lives they choose? It takes empathy, compassion and commitment to be an outstanding Support Worker – if you have these qualities already, we’ll provide you with all of the training you need to set you up for a fantastic career in social care!

We’re currently supporting a fabulous gentleman in his 30s in the NE34 area of South Tyneside. He has autism, uses mostly non-verbal forms of communication, and can display some behaviors that others may find challenging.

Your role is to support him to live the life he chooses, which includes engaging in the activities he enjoys. He loves Star Wars, is really interested in everything sci-fi related, loves watching TV shows like Countdown and loves going out for a drive. He has a Motability vehicle to enable him to go for daily drives in the car to support his well-being, so it’s essential that you have a full UK driving licence and are comfortable driving someone else’s car.

This gentleman is mostly independent when it comes to his personal care but requires some support with shaving. He also requires support with meal preparation, medication administration, grocery shopping and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Full training and support are provided, so whilst experience is always welcome, it’s certainly not essential. What’s more important to us, is that your values are aligned with ours - ambition, courage, integrity, partnership and respect.

Shifts often start at 10am one day and finish at 10am the following day with a sleep over shift included from 10:30pm – 7:30am. Day shifts start at 10am and finish at 3pm. We’re looking for people who can work flexibly on the rota working a combination of these shifts across weekdays, weekends and your share of bank holidays. At Dimensions, we value a healthy work / life balance so you will receive your rota 4 weeks in advance.

There is free street parking available for staff cars and good public transport links.

For further information about the role, please contact Paul on 07939 570 531.
