Support Worker
Churwell/Morley
£10 per hour
Full-time and part-time contracts, 24 - 37.5 hours per week
This is a complex service and is better suited to experienced Support Workers
Are you an empathetic, non-judgemental person with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries? Are you able to motivate others in a consistent and calm manner? If so, this may be the team for you!
We are looking for energetic and resilient Support Workers to join a brand-new team in the Churwell/Morley area of Leeds, supporting a young lady in her 20s who has a learning disability, complex mental health needs (personality disorder) and a forensic history.
She loves being around animals and has goals to volunteer as a dog walker and own her own cat. She also really enjoys PlayStation and Nintendo Switch games and will often seek your advice on how she can get to the next level! She’s a very sociable and chatty person and likes to be out and about and getting involved in a range of activities.
Transitioning to Dimensions will be a big change for this young lady and it’s likely that she will display behaviour that others may find challenging. We’re looking for Support Workers with previous experience of challenging behaviour, or people who are committed and willing to learn, so that we can support her in the best way possible.
This is a challenging and demanding role that requires you to draw on your compassion, resilience and non-judgemental attitude. You will need a sound understanding of risk management to maintain appropriate structures and boundaries that will enable you to support this young lady to reach her goals. We have no doubt that being part of this young lady’s progress will be incredibly rewarding!
Full training, support and enrolment on the necessary qualifications will be provided.
The shifts may vary but are likely to be from 10am one day until 10am the following day, which a sleep over shift from 11pm – 7am included. There will also be day shifts, waking nights, weekends and your share of bank holidays. We’re looking for people who can be as flexible as possible to work a combination of shifts. Rotas are completed 4 weeks in advance and there will always be two Support Workers on shift at a time.
If you have any further questions and would like to discuss the role in more detail, please call Lauren on 07943713039.
