This is a complex service and is most suited to experienced Support Workers
Are you an empathetic, non-judgemental person with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries? Are you able to motivate others in a consistent and calm manner?
We're looking for experienced Support Workers who are passionate about supporting adults to increase their independent living skills whilst facilitating positive community participation. The people we support have learning disabilities, complex mental health needs, a forensic history and often display behaviours that others may find challenging.
We’re looking for people to join us on a part-time basis working either 16 or 32 hours per week. Shifts are typically 9am/10am one day – 9am/10am the following day. This is made up of a day shift followed by a sleepover. We’re looking for people with flexibility to work these shifts across a rota that includes weekdays, weekends and a share of the bank holidays.
Your role will be to support people to develop and understand their emotions and effective ways to communicate their needs. You will need an understanding of risk management and the ability to maintain appropriate structures and boundaries.
Day to day you will be supporting with positive behaviour support, personal care (varying degrees of independence), medication administration, finances and household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. This is in addition to supporting people to engage in the activities they enjoy and encourage them to further develop their interests. The people we support currently love cooking, baking, watching movies, going to gigs, going to the pub and visiting friends and family. They also have Motability vehicles to support their independence so it's essential that you have a Full UK Driving Licence and are comfortable driving other people's cars.
If you have any further questions and would like to discuss the role in more detail, please call Maxine on 07860 923 426.
