This is a complex forensic, mental health, single person supported living service and is better suited to experienced Support Workers.
Do you want to join a team supporting a young lady to transition successfully from long stay hospital into her own home in the community?
Be part of this new team from the beginning and have the opportunity to deliver person-centred support!
Dimensions are one of the country’s largest not-for-profit organisations and we are driven by our values. People with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do.
We will soon be supporting a young lady in her late 20s who has complex needs in the Churwell/Morley area and we’re looking for resilient, empathetic, and non-judgemental people to join her fabulous new support team!
This young lady has a learning disability, a personality disorder, and a forensic history. She loves being around animals and hopes to volunteer as a dog walker and own her own cat in the near future. She also really enjoys PlayStation and Nintendo Switch games and will often seek your advice on how she can get to the next level! She’s a very sociable and chatty person and likes to be out and about and getting involved in a range of activities.
Transitioning to Dimensions will be a big change for this young lady and she will need really great support to succeed in her transition in to the community. She has a lovely home ready for her to move into with Dimensions this month. We’re looking for Support Workers with previous experience of complex needs, or people who are committed and willing to learn, so that we can support her in the best way possible.
She is independent when it comes to her personal care and appreciates friendly reminders and encouragement to complete her routines. She requires prompting/active support with her meal preparation, medication, grocery shopping and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry.
You will need a sound understanding of risk management to maintain appropriate structures and boundaries that will enable you to support this young lady to reach her goals. Specialised training will be provided and a good pay rate offered.
Shifts are typically 8am one day until 8am the following day, with a sleep over shift from 10pm – 8am included. There are also day shifts, waking nights and weekends. We’re looking for people who can be as flexible as possible to work a combination of shifts. At Dimensions, we value a healthy work / life balance so you will receive your rota 4 weeks in advance.
If you have any further questions and would like to discuss the role in more detail, please call Lauren on 07943 713 039.
Dimensions are also proud to be one of very few social care organisations that have been recognised by the Great Places to Work programme in 2019, 2020 & 2021. As well as a comprehensive induction, full training and continued support from management, our colleagues have access to:
