Support Worker

If you're looking for a role that's both meaningful and rewarding; if you're looking to work with a not-for-profit organisation that has been accredited with being one of the UK's "Greatest Places to Work", and if you're after a life-changing career that offers flexibility, comprehensive training, and continual support to help you achieve your goals and reach your full potential, then look no further than our Support Worker role based in the charming, picturesque village of Combe Down, Bath.

About the Role

In the small, lively and very friendly village of Combe Down live the three ladies that, alongside your new colleagues, you'll be supporting. The atmosphere in their property is very homely, and each lady enjoys an active lifestyle, for instance; they attend a day centre once a week, attend church on Sundays, they love swimming, rollerskating, going for meals out, and visiting the cinema. Two of the ladies we support are wheelchair users, experience epilepsy, have profound needs, and communicate non-verbally. The ladies also share a mobility vehicle which, if you have a drivers license and can drive a manual van, you might be asked to drive.

What you'll do as a Dimensions Support Worker

  • Empower and encourage these wonderful ladies so that they may live their best lives - the lives that they choose. You'll achieve this by being actively - and enthusiastically - involved with every aspect of their daily lives (i.e., supporting them with shopping, accompanying them to appointments and on trips, motivating them to take up new hobbies and achieve their dreams, helping with housework, etc.)
  • Respectfully provide intimate personal care, prompting and mobility assistance when required (this can include the use of hoists)
  • Prepare meals and PEG tubes
  • Administer medication (after training, if required)

For further information about the role, shifts, and the ladies we support, please contact Anna Wyatt on anna.wyatt@dimensions-uk.org

What you'll bring to the role

  • Sincerity - Experience of working in adult care is a bonus, but what we're more interested in is that you have a genuine interest in - and a passion for - providing personalised support
  • Ambition - You'll be keen to make a positive impact every day to the people you support, their families, and your colleagues. You'll also be keen to continue with your personal and professional development
  • Professionalism - You always act with courage, respect, and integrity
  • Attitude - You'll be a calm, resilient, patient person with a positive and upbeat attitude
  • Other Requirements - Great communication skills, strong interpersonal talents, and an ability to work well within a close-knit team
