If you're a bright, upbeat, and enthusiastic person who adores banter; listening and dancing to music at all hours of the day, and if rugby is one of your favourite sports, then five amazing gentlemen in Abertillery would love to welcome you into their home to help support them in living their best lives.
Meet the Gents
In Abertillery, we support five gentlemen with learning disabilities (aged 57 - 64) to lead richer and more fulfilling lives - the lives that they want for themselves. Their home is always loud and rambunctious, and whilst each person has their own bespoke support plan; dreams, hobbies, and aspirations, each gentleman enjoys banter, music, movies, and getting out and about as often as they can. One of the gents absolutely adores people-watching and rugby, and one loves it when they're lavished with compliments!
Most of the gents we support here communicate non-verbally; some have autism and epilepsy, and all can demonstrate behaviours of distress. Three are wheelchair users, and two of the gentlemen use them when they're out and about. Each person has access to their own mobility vehicle - which they would love for you to drive if you can.
How You'll Be Supporting Them
In order to keep the banter flying; the people-watched, and the compliments flowing, we're looking to welcome one full-time and one part-time support worker to join our wonderful team in Abertillery.
By working in close partnership with your new colleagues and the families of the people we support, you'll be expected to:
Since being welcomed into their home three years ago, our bright, bubbly, close-knit team have helped the gentlemen we support to achieve so much; could you be the one to help us to help them achieve so much more?

The Honest Bit
At Dimensions, we value candor; which is why we want to tell you that whilst being a support worker is a deeply fulfilling and meaningful role - a role that gives you purpose, and a true sense of accomplishment and satisfaction - it is a job that will, on occasion, push you to your emotional and physical limits. Bonding with people; sharing your life with them, and learning the art of care, can be both a blessing and a bane, but, for those resilient and courageous enough to recognise that if something makes you feel nervous and asks you to push yourself in order to grow - then it's absolutely something worth doing - despite the possible challenges.
So, if you're sincere about doing this role, don't let nerves hold you back from applying! We can - and will - support you in achieving your aspirations; we will help you live a better life too.
How We'll Support You
Dimensions is an award-winning, life changing, not-for-profit charity which promotes independence for every individual. And you'll be pleased to hear that the outstanding levels of support we've become known for also extends to every member of our team. So, with us, you can rest assured knowing that anything is possible here at Dimensions, and there are no glass ceilings here to hold you back from achieving great things.
