This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and experienced management team across Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, with responsibility for a locality delivering over 1,000 support hours each week. As an Assistant Locality Manager, you'll work closely alongside the Locality Manager to ensure people receive safe, high-quality, person-centred support that enables them to live fulfilling and ambitious lives.This is a full off-rota leadership role, giving you the opportunity to focus on developing teams, maintaining quality standards and driving service improvements, while remaining closely connected to the people we support and the colleagues delivering support every day. Working across our Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill localities, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day management of homes, supporting the Locality Manager with operational leadership, compliance, quality assurance and people management.

You'll be involved in:

  • Overseeing compliance, audits and quality assurance activity.
  • Supporting recruitment, interviewing, induction and onboarding.
  • Conducting supervisions, observations, spot checks and appraisals.
  • Booking and monitoring mandatory and specialist training.
  • Reviewing support plans, risk assessments and health records.
  • Supporting safeguarding processes and health and safety requirements.
  • Attending health appointments and developing an understanding of individual health needs.
  • Building positive relationships with families, professionals and commissioners.
  • Supporting service improvement plans and quality outcomes.

You'll also deputise for the Locality Manager during periods of annual leave, representing the locality at management meetings and taking the lead on operational decision making when required. As part of the wider management team, you'll participate in the on-call rota, typically covering one week at a time a few times each quarter, and you'll occasionally undertake evening, weekend or night visits to complete observations and quality monitoring.

About You

You'll be a passionate and experienced social care leader who is committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience leading and developing teams within social care.
  • Can effectively manage competing priorities and operational challenges.
  • Has experience of compliance, quality assurance and performance management.
  • Is confident challenging poor practice and promoting positive cultures.
  • Leads by example and acts as an outstanding role model.
  • Has excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Can build strong relationships with families, professionals and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates initiative and can work independently when required.
  • Is committed to continuous improvement and professional development.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential as you'll be working across both localities.
