About the role

  • Female Support Worker
  • Part time – 30 hours per week
  • Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33.
  • £12.81 per hour

We are looking for a female Support Worker to join our friendly team in Bury St Edmunds, delivering person-centred, values-led support across a supported living home made up of multiple flats.

You will be supporting 14 adults. Each person lives in their own flat, and you will primarily provide 1:1 support, with support from a wider team across the service. This is a varied and active role, where you will work across different flats on a 2-week rolling rota, including alternate weekends. Shifts include early (8am–3pm), late (3pm–10pm), and long days, with occasional sleep-ins when required.

Your role will focus on helping people live the life they choose. This could include supporting someone to go shopping, visit the cinema, enjoy a swim, or go on a train ride, as well as supporting daily routines like cooking, maintaining their home, and managing finances. Depending on the individual, you may also provide personal care, support with mobility (including wheelchairs or hoisting in some homes), and administer medication, including PEG where required.

This role will include working alternate weekends, waking nights or sleepins if required and bank holidays. This will be discussed with you during the interview process and you will be matched to people we support in line with hours and patterns of shifts you are able to work.

About you

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, and genuinely values-led, with a passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. You will need to feel confident providing personal care, working flexibly across different environments, and encouraging independence, dignity, and choice in everything you do. Being comfortable getting involved in interests like swimming is important, as is being a clear and positive communicator.

Driving is preferred as you may use mobility vehicles, but it is not essential. Free parking is available on site.

Experience is beneficial, but not essential — what matters most is your values, attitude, resilience, and commitment to making a difference.
