About the role
We are looking for Support Workers to join our registered home in Barnet, North London, earning £12.85 per hour. Full-time opportunities are available.
You will be supporting eight people, four women and four men, aged between their 50s and 90s, to live fulfilling lives and have choice and control over their day-to-day support. The people we support have learning disabilities and complex health needs, with support provided on a 2:1 basis to ensure they receive the personalised support they need.
As a Support Worker, you will be helping people to maintain their health and wellbeing, develop skills, access their local community, and take part in interests that are important to them. This role includes supporting people with personal care, moving and assisting individuals who use wheelchairs and hoisting equipment, assisting with meals in line with SALT guidance, administering medication, and supporting people with shopping, cooking, and meal preparation.
No two days are the same, and every moment has the potential to make a positive difference. This is a warm and sociable home where the people we support enjoy karaoke evenings, football matches, cinema trips, meals out, day trips and spending time with friends and family. Interests across the home include music, walking, Greek culture and exploring new places in the community.
Communication needs vary across the people we support, so we are looking for someone who can listen, adapt their approach, and recognise the diverse ways people communicate. You will need to be patient, respectful and able to build positive relationships whilst supporting people to achieve the outcomes that matter most to them. Experience of supporting people with epilepsy or complex health needs would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
Shifts are between 7:00am and 9:45pm, with options for shorter shifts of approximately 7.5 hours. Sleep-ins form part of the rota, and you will be expected to work alternate weekends.
