"Love seeing small differences make big changes."– Current Support Worker

If you're looking for a role where you'll build meaningful relationships, support people to enjoy active and fulfilling lives, and be part of a friendly, supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

We're looking for caring and enthusiastic Female Support Workers to join our team in Reading (RG2), supporting four women aged between their 30s and 50s.

The women we support have learning disabilities and epilepsy. Some communicate without words and others use limited communication, so learning how each person communicates is a key part of providing great support.

Support is provided on both a 1:1 and 2:1 basis, depending on individual needs and activities.

This is a lively and active home where there is always something going on. The women enjoy getting out and about, spending time with family and friends, and taking part in a wide range of activities.

They enjoy:

• Shopping trips

• Going to the cinema

• Meals out

• Day trips and holidays

• Music and entertainment

• Swimming

• Visiting family and friends

• Celebrating festivals and special occasions

• Visiting local sports centres

• Exploring new opportunities and experiences

Support includes:

• Supporting people with their personal care

• Using hoists and specialist equipment for one person

• Supporting wheelchair users

• Supporting people with eating and drinking

• Meal preparation

• Administering medication

• Supporting people to attend health appointments

• Supporting communication through signs, gestures and other personalised approaches

• Supporting people to do the things that matter to them

• Supporting holidays, including occasional trips abroad

Family relationships are important to the women we support, and you'll work closely with relatives and wider circles of support to help people live great lives.

Shifts

• 7:00am – 2:00pm

• 2:00pm – 9:00pm

• Alternate weekends

• Optional sleep-ins: 10:00pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)

Rotas are provided in advance to support planning and work–life balance.

About you

You'll be a great fit if you're:

• Caring, patient and compassionate

• Creative and enthusiastic

• Willing to learn different communication methods

• Comfortable supporting people with a range of health and support needs

• Passionate about helping people live fulfilling lives

• Happy supporting people to access activities, appointments and opportunities

• Comfortable swimming and joining in with activities

• A positive team player

• Reliable and organised

• A driver with a full UK manual driving licence

Experience is not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
