Dimensions is proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work for 7 years in a row.

About the role

We’re looking for flexible, positive and reliable Relief Support Workers to work across our services in SY5 and the surrounding areas. This role is ideal if you enjoy variety, want flexibility around when you work, or would like to gain experience across different support settings.

As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll provide short-term and cover support across multiple homes, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and additional support needs. Every shift is different, giving you the chance to make a real impact wherever you’re needed.

Who you will be supporting

You’ll support adults of different ages and abilities in a range of settings, including shared homes and individual support environments.

The people we support enjoy full, meaningful lives, with interests such as:

  • Community outings and day trips
  • Cinema, discos and social events
  • Music, dance and sensory activities
  • Local clubs and leisure activities
  • Quiet time at home as well as busy, active days

Support may be 1:1, 2:1 or shared, depending on the service and activity.

What you will be doing

As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll step in to support individuals and teams when needed, including:

  • Supporting daily routines and independence
  • Providing personal care where required (training provided)
  • Preparing meals and helping with household tasks
  • Supporting people to access the community
  • Encouraging communication, choice and confidence
  • Administering medication (where trained)
  • Responding calmly and positively to behaviours of distress
  • Working collaboratively with a variety of teams

This role is perfect for someone adaptable, confident, and comfortable working across different environments.

Shift patterns

Relief work offers flexibility and can include a variety of shifts, such as:

  • Day shifts
  • Evening shifts
  • Long days
  • Sleep-in shifts (where required, paid accordingly)

Shifts are offered based on service needs and your availability — you choose when you work.

About you

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Caring, patient and values-driven
  • Adaptable and confident in new environments
  • A good communicator and team player
  • Comfortable building rapport quickly
  • Positive, reliable and flexible
  • Happy supporting different people and teams
  • Willing to learn and take direction

Experience in care is welcome but not essential — we provide full training and ongoing support.

Why choose a Relief role with Dimensions?

  • Flexible working to suit your lifestyle
  • Exposure to a variety of services and individuals
  • A great way to build experience in social care
  • Full training and ongoing development
