About the role
This part-time (18.5 hours) Support Worker role is based in a supported living home in Wivenhoe, supporting 2 males and 1 female (40s–60s) with mild learning disabilities, autism, Down syndrome and epilepsy.
You’ll provide person-centred support including personal care (full support required), medication administration, and active support with cooking, meal prep and daily living tasks. One person experiences frequent seizures, so confidence and calmness around epilepsy support is important.
People we support are very sociable and enjoy being out and about chatting, shopping, visiting garden centres, going to discos, coffee shops and the pub. You’ll support with 1:1 time, community involvement (including college and social groups), and help build routines such as organising bedrooms, planning outings and encouraging independence. Supporting relationships is a key part of the role, this includes family visits, phone calls, celebrations and special occasions.
Shifts include a mix of evenings and long days, with every other weekend:
Rotas may change over time depending on the needs of the home, so adaptability is important.
Drivers are not essential, however candidates with a full driving licence, their own car and business insurance are preferred.
About you
You’ll be upbeat, kind and patient, with the confidence to support someone with epilepsy. You enjoy being active, sociable and building trust. Experience is helpful but not essential, we’ll provide training.
