About the role

  • Support Worker
  • Part time – 12 or 22 hours per week
  • £12.64 per hour
  • Watford, WD19
  • Full UK driving licence with own car and business insurance.

If you enjoy trips on trains, relaxing in cosy coffee shops, watching Disney films, and having a role where no two days are the same, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We’re looking for a patient, upbeat, and proactive Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for a gentleman in his 30s who is passionate about living life on his own terms, with independence, routine, and choice at the centre. He has a keen interest in model railways and loves getting out to cafés, zoos, theme parks, and theatre shows. At home, he enjoys unwinding with YouTube, Disney favourites, and shows like The Masked Singer.

His days can vary, some are filled with energy and enthusiasm to get out and explore, while others call for reassurance, space, and a gentler pace. Your calm, consistent, and creative approach will be key in helping him feel secure, understood, and confident.

He has Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), which means everyday expectations can sometimes feel overwhelming. At times, he may avoid tasks, delay routines, or feel anxious under pressure. You’ll support him using a low-demand approach, offering choices, allowing time, recognising how he’s feeling, and working alongside him at a pace that feels comfortable and empowering.

The role includes supporting with personal care, daily routines, meal preparation, household tasks and encouraging his independence.

A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and business insurance are essential, as being able to get out and about is an important part of his daily life and wellbeing.
