About Dimensions
Choose a career that grows with you. At Dimensions, our Career Development & Progression means you will receive award-winning training, including Aspire and Dimensions Academy, to build real skills. With us, you will not just do a support role, you will develop as a professional in a values-driven charity, where your growth matters just as much as the lives you change.
About the Role
You will be joining a supported living home in Edgware, close to Canons Park, where you will be supporting three gentlemen to live the lives they choose and take part in interests that are important to them. The people we support enjoy a wide range of interests including horse riding, sailing, music events, discos, swimming, and train rides, and you will play a key role in enabling them to access these opportunities and remain active members of their community.
As a Support Worker, you will provide personalised support that promotes choice, independence, and wellbeing. This will include supporting people with personal care, mobility, and health needs, assisting with meals in line with SALT guidance, and helping people access their hobbies and interests. All three gentlemen use wheelchairs, so you will need to be comfortable supporting people with mobility needs and enabling them to participate in interests both at home and in the community.
Every day will be different, and you will work alongside colleagues to provide high-quality support that is centred around each person's individual needs, preferences, and goals. Building positive relationships and recognising how each person communicates is an important part of the role.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has a positive approach and is committed to helping people achieve great outcomes. Shifts are typically long days from 8am to 10pm, reflecting the active lifestyles of the people we support.
About You
You will share our values, bringing them to life in everything you do. You will be passionate about supporting people to live life their way, with patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion. You will understand the importance of person-centred support and be confident in following detailed support plans and routines.
You will have the resilience to manage busy days, the flexibility to adapt to changing needs, and to communicate effectively, whether that is using clear language, active listening, or Makaton signs. You will be reliable, proactive, and ready to work as part of a team.
