About the role
You'll be supporting three gentlemen aged between their 50s and 80s who have learning disabilities and autism to live independently in their own supported living home.
These gentlemen have a wide range of interests and enjoy getting out and about, making the most of their local community. They're passionate sports fans and love watching, discussing and attending sporting events, from football and darts to snooker. If you're happy cheering on Newcastle United, Hartlepool United or Arsenal, you'll fit right in!
They also have a real interest in all things transport, especially cars, buses, trains and planes. Music plays a big part in their lives too, and they enjoy listening to their favourite artists and attending live performances, particularly tribute acts celebrating legends such as Elvis Presley and The Beatles.
We're looking for a Support Worker who enjoys building meaningful relationships, sharing interests and helping people live the lives they choose. If you're enthusiastic, caring and enjoy having fun while making a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
As a Support Worker, you'll play an important role in helping these gentlemen live fulfilling, independent lives while providing reassurance and support when needed.
Your role will include:
Supporting people with their daily routines and activities.
Encouraging independence and helping individuals achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
Providing prompts and encouragement with personal care, and offering hands-on support when required.
Supporting with meal planning and preparation.
Assisting with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and maintaining a comfortable home environment.
Administering medication and supporting with diabetes management, including insulin administration.
Providing support for individuals living with dementia, using a person-centred approach that promotes wellbeing, dignity and choice.
Supporting people to enjoy their hobbies, interests and community activities, including sporting events, music outings and social occasions.
Every day is different in this role, but one thing remains the same: you'll be helping people lead happy, independent and meaningful lives while creating lasting relationships along the way.
Shifts:
We currently we provide support through 24-hour shifts starting at 10am one day and finishing at 10am the following day with a sleepover included.
There are also some day shifts that vary from 10am to 3pm, 10am-4pm, or possibly 8 or 9pm finishes.
Flexibility is key as on a weekend day shift as these could vary depending on football matches.
Rotas are provided at least 4 weeks in advance to support a healthy work life balance - something we're very passionate about!
