About the role
Are you someone who enjoys helping others live life to the fullest while building genuine, meaningful relationships? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
At our home on Loughor Road in Swansea, you'll be supporting five friendly and independent gentlemen aged between their 20s and 40s. Each person has their own unique personality, interests and goals, and you'll play an important role in helping them achieve the things that matter most to them.
The people we support have autism, Down syndrome, ADHD and learning disabilities. They communicate verbally and require mainly prompting and encouragement to maintain their independence, make choices and enjoy active, fulfilling lives. You'll also support one gentleman who lives in a self-contained annex to develop his independence and confidence.
This is a home full of big personalities and shared interests. From Harry Potter and Marvel enthusiasts to Disney fans, keen gamers and people who love taking on new challenges, there's always plenty to talk about and enjoy together. You could be cheering someone on at rugby training, supporting attendance at drama groups, pottery classes or football matches, helping with day-to-day routines, or accompanying someone doing social activities.
Shifts: Long days (12.5 hour shifts) From 7am - 7pm / 8am - 8pm / 9am - 9pm, including weekends.
Travel: A driving licence is essential, as the people we support have their own vehicles and lead busy, active lives in their local community.
About you
You don't need previous experience in care, just the right values. We're looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable, and passionate about helping others live fulfilling lives.
You'll enjoy building meaningful relationships, celebrating achievements, and supporting people to be as independent as possible. Whether you're helping someone learn a new skill, enjoy a day out, or simply have a great day, you'll bring positivity and encouragement to everything you do.
You'll be a great team player, willing to learn, and confident communicating with the people we support, their families, and colleagues. Being calm, adaptable, and able to use your initiative will help you thrive in this role.
Basic IT skills are required, as you'll use digital systems to complete training and record support notes.
Most importantly, you'll share our values of respect, inclusion, ambition, and courage, helping create a warm, supportive environment where people can live the life they choose.
