About the Role
We are recruiting for a Waking Night Support Worker opportunity within our Acle home, supporting a gentleman in his 60s who lives independently. He has a profound learning disability and cerebral palsy and communicates using eye contact, facial expressions, smiles, and visual choices. He enjoys spending time with others and has a passion for tractors, music (particularly brass bands), puzzles, people-watching, and getting out and about in his local town.
This is a rewarding waking night role where you'll provide person-centred support tailored to the individual's needs, ensuring his safety, comfort, and wellbeing throughout the night. You'll support with personal care, medication, PEG feeding, moving and assisting, overnight monitoring, and responding to any support needs that may arise during your shift. You'll work closely as part of a supportive team and receive full training, including specialist training for health-related support needs.
This is a part-time position working 22 hours per week across 2 waking night shifts. Shifts are typically on Wednesday and Thursday nights, although nights may vary to meet the needs of the home. The role may also include weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
About You
We're looking for someone who is naturally observant, calm, and proactive, able to adapt to changing needs while providing high-quality, person-centred support throughout the night. You'll be committed to promoting dignity, wellbeing, choice, and independence at every opportunity.
Working closely with colleagues, you'll be a strong team player who values collaboration, particularly when providing support with moving and assisting and complex health needs. Above all, you'll bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to making every shift meaningful for the person you support.
A driving licence is not required for this waking night role. However, you must be able to travel reliably to and from our Acle home for each shift, as public transport options may be limited during overnight hours.
