Working in adult social care, you will make a real difference to people's lives every day. We have everything you need to introduce you to the sector. So, if you're the sort of person who treats others with respect, listens to their needs, understands their emotions, and is warm, kind, and honest, then adult social care could be the career for you.

The role

As a Support Worker with Dimensions, you will be responsible for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to have a great life. You won’t just care for them; you’ll support them to achieve their goals and have as much choice and independence as possible; some of the many reasons the role of a support worker can bring enormous job satisfaction.

As a member of our support team, you will be supporting three gentlemen to live the individual life they want, ensuring they have choice and control over the planning and delivery of their support. Our support workers certainly don’t see what they do as ‘just another job’.

You will empower them to lead a lifestyle they’re proud of; supporting and encouraging people to find opportunities in employment and leisure, support their health and well-being and pursue their interests and hobbies. The people we support enjoy going to the beach, feeding the ducks, going for pub lunches, sport classes, day trips to London, long walks in the countryside and most importantly, a daily visit to Greggs!

Think you have what it takes to be a Support Worker?

  • You’re compassionate, empathic, and respectful - able to listen to the people we support and demonstrate an understanding of what they are communicating.
  • You’re adventurous, motivated and have a “get up and go” attitude to trying new things. You’ll be helping to expand their horizons, try new things, develop new interests.
  • Your patient, confident and openminded – you’re able to learn about the people we support, their routines and able to support with obsessive compulsive disorder.
  • You would enjoy helping a person learn, slowly and step- by-step, how to undertake household tasks.
