We have a unique, part time opportunity, working with Esme, a wonderful young lady in her mid-thirties, with physical and learning disabilities, who lives in Bishopswood, Bridgend.

Esme is looking for a sincere, compassionate, reliable, bright and upbeat female support worker who is comfortable working on a 1:1 basis and driven to make every day the best it can be.

Esme lives in a cosy annex, next door to her very supportive parents, who want nothing more than for Esme to live a full and varied life – supported by her engaging and enthusiastic female support team.  You’ll have the freedom to be proactive and imaginative in planning Esme’s time, enabling her to enjoy her favoured activities and experience new opportunities.

The nature of Esme’s learning disability means she needs you to be engaging with her throughout the day, explaining the world around her and bringing things to life in a way that is meaningful for her. When you are doing the things for her, that she is unable to do herself, Esme loves for you to be telling her about what you are doing, so she is included in each moment of her day.  (Though she might need some special cajoling to get her interested in the more mundane tasks!)

Esme has a very wicked sense of humour (she’ll have you laughing heartedly with her bathroom-based satire!); she enjoys being read to (her favourite author is David Walliams); she loves a pamper session (so, if you’re an aspiring nail artist, Esme will be more than happy for you to practice your skills on her!); she relishes being active on Wii Sports (so best get practicing your putting skills and boxing stances!), as well as being outdoors in her garden. Esme also has her own caravan in Burnham-on-Sea which she goes to twice a year for a short-break holiday – mini adventures that you can join in with too!

Esme is nil-by-mouth and you will be trained to provide the assistance she requires with her PEG feeding, personal care and mobility assistance.

This part-time opportunity is so much more than a support worker role; it’s a chance for two amazing people – yourself and Esme to live life to the full!

At Dimensions, we believe it is who you are as a person – and the difference you can bring to lives of the people you will be supporting – that is more important than experience. Whether you are new to support work, or have supported people previously, we want to hear from you!   We will give you all the training you need to be become an amazing support worker for the people you will be working with.   You will find no other role more personally fulfilling, and professionally rewarding, than becoming a Support Worker with Dimensions.
