Join Our Team as a Male Support Worker in Birmingham (B17)
Location: Birmingham, B17 ( Just a 5min Drive From Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham)
Pay Rate: £12.31 per hour + £50 per sleep-in shift
Position: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Requirements: Full UK Manual Driving Licence (Essential)
Are you calm under pressure, confident in your communication, and passionate about making a real difference? We’re looking for a dedicated Male Support Worker to join our team in B17, supporting a fantastic gentleman in his 30s with learning disabilities, autism, and epilepsy.
Who Will You Be Supporting?
You’ll be supporting one gentleman who lives with autism, a learning disability, and epilepsy (currently experiencing well-managed absence seizures). He is full of personality, has a great sense of humour, and enjoys a structured, routine-driven lifestyle. His family is very involved—his mum regularly calls, and his dad helps with the garden and car.
He enjoys:
- Walks to the shop, feeding ducks, and relaxing in the park
- Caverny meals out and sensory room sessions
- Trying new things like swimming, cinema trips, and even the safari park
- Laughing and joking with his team—he thrives on positive, consistent support
What Will You Be Doing?
This is a 2:1 support role at all times, with long day shifts and sleep-ins. You’ll be:
- Providing Personal Care: Supporting with all aspects of daily living
- Promoting Independence: Encouraging him to try new activities and build confidence
- Supporting Communication: Understanding and responding to expressions, gestures, and behaviours
- Managing Health Needs: Administering medication and monitoring for seizure activity
- Engaging in Activities: From sensory play to community outings, you’ll help him enjoy life to the fullest
- Being Present & Proactive: Spotting changes in behaviour, following routines, and being ready to adapt
Shift Patterns:
- Long Days: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Sleep-In Shifts: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Paid to sleep)
Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.
