One of the amazing young men we support in Hemel Hempstead is looking for a new person to join his team. He’s not just any man, he’s a marathon runner, a community volunteer, a radio guest, and Volunteer of the Year, as voted by his peers.

Earlier this year, he ran the London Marathon in under 5 hours — 4 hours and 53 minutes to be exact — and raised £3,406 for a local tearoom where he also volunteers. He pushed himself not just physically, but personally too, stepping out of his comfort zone to share his story live on the radio.

His friends and colleagues describe him as “cheerful, willing, hardworking, and a total joy.” And we couldn't agree more.

Now, he’s looking for someone just as enthusiastic about life to support him in continuing to achieve great things. Could that be you?

Who You’d Be Supporting

A gentleman in his mid-20s, he lives independently in his own home, and he’s looking for a support worker who can encourage him, share his interests, and help him stay on track with daily routines such as taking vitamins or checking his medication.

He’s into:

  • Running with his local club (he regularly smashes 5Ks).
  • Woodwork in his own shed – making bird boxes and candles for craft fairs.
  • Cooking – especially live cook-along.
  • Long walks with his dog.
  • Quality time with his family (his mum is a big part of his life).

What the Role Looks Like

  • You’ll work shifts (9am–5pm) and/or evening + sleep-in shifts (5pm–10pm + sleep-in until 9am).
  • No support needed 9am–5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Every other weekend off.
  • If you do a sleep-in, you'll stay until he heads to work (usually 8–9am).

You’ll need your own car and be happy to use it during work (we’ll cover mileage). If you love running or being active, that’s a huge bonus, he’d love to share that with you.
